Athletics
are an integral component of a Fraser education

|
From elementary school recess to organized
high school sports, athletics during your child’s academic
career play a defining role in helping them grow into strong,
healthy and confident young adults. The Athletics Department
places a huge emphasis on participation at every level of education
in order to foster critical hand-eye coordination, boost self-confidence
and maintain a healthy body.
The benefits of physical education are
widely known, which is why Fraser is committed to maintaining
a variety of offerings to our students. In fact, by way of
a generous donation from the Fraser Athletics Boosters Club,
all students are able to participate in any sport they choose
without having to pay “participation fees” for
the 2009-2010 academic year. This ensures all students are
able to take part regardless of their financial means.
Brad Robinson, Fraser High School’s
Athletic Director, who is naturally passionate about sports,
is equally as passionate about the secondary benefits that
athletics provide.
“As important as the health benefits
are, the intangibles that are learned through athletics are
life-building assets,” Robsinson said. “I believe
our teams experience a variety of situations, circumstances,
opportunity and challenges – from successful to routine
to difficult – that closely mimic life’s opportunities
and challenges.”
Elementary athletics introduce children
to the concept of organized sports while promoting good health
habits that can last a lifetime. Traditional organized sports
begin at the middle school level, and include: football; boys
and girls basketball; girls volleyball; and boys and girls
track. |
