Fraser
Schools have some of Macomb County’s best K-8 MEAP scores,
traditionally in the top 5 percent of all students county-wide;
and more than 93 percent of our graduating seniors go on to
enroll in college.
Our core curricula throughout your child’s
academic career focuses heavily on a wide offering of subjects
including mathematics, science, English and foreign languages,
social studies, American and world history, as well as specialty
subjects like philosophy, literature, art history and other
unique classes.
Cutting-edge technology has been heavily
infused into the academic realm by our extensive use of interactive
Promethean Boards in every class throughout the district. Promethean
technology lets teachers and students interact with information
in a revolutionary way that captures their imagination and
keeps their attention.
Essentially a huge, interactive computer
screen, Promethean Boards bring together images and text in
a multi-media format and allows real-time participation between
students and their teacher. Each student has a remote pad that
allows him or her to answer questions presented on the “big
screen” and, in effect, lets the teacher know immediately
who understands the lesson and who may be having some trouble.
The benefit to both the students and the teachers is astounding – no
child is inadvertently left behind, and the teacher can speed
up the pace of their lessons to fit the pace of the students'
learning.
Each school throughout the district also
comes equipped with state-of-the-art computer labs and media
centers that give students the ability to research, explore
topics of interest and use the power of information to achieve
their academic and intellectual goals.
Fraser takes a “whole child” approach
to education, which includes the critical components of arts
and athletics. However, it is our emphasis on academics which
constitutes the linchpin of the “whole child” approach
and makes our program so successful.
An example is our award-winning Algebra
I program – with an emphasis on making sure “at-risk” kids
do not fall through the cracks. Currently, the Algebra I course
passes nearly 90 percent of its at-risk students.
From pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12,
academic offerings are geared toward a child’s interest
and also provide a world-class education that will make our
students competitive in the global marketplace. |
